Gateway Arch
The Gateway Arch is one of the most famous places in Missouri.
Located in St Louis, the curved peaks stand more than 600 ft high about above? the city skyline and can be seen for miles.
Although this can always be admired from afar, one of the coolest things about the arch is that it has an observation deck where you can take a ride to the top and gaze out at the scenery below that is filled with parks, bridges, buildings, and the Mississippi River.
National World War 1 Museum
The National World War 1 Museum and Memorial has been open to the public since 1926 and tells the story of WW1, spanning from before 1914 to the 1919 Paris Peace Conference.
As you walk over the glass bridge at the entrance, you will see a field of 9000 red poppies which symbolizes combatant deaths from the War. The museum also holds memorabilia and artefacts such as a Renault FT Tank, a Ford Model T Ambulance and historical propaganda posters. It’s worth a visit to understand the history behind WW1 and how this environment led to WW2.
Missouri Botanical Garden
The Missouri Botanical Garden was founded in 1859 by Henry Shaw. Today the garden is a National Historic Landmark and a center for science, conservation, and education.
It boasts 70 acres (32 hectares) of horticultural displays, an impressive Japanese strolling garden and indoor conservatories. It’s worth a visit to get in touch with your green side!
